About Debe...
Chicago singer/songwriter and guitar pick chick Debe Welch, has been a professional musician and songwriter for over 20 years. Debe received her first guitar when she was 8 and has been playing ever since. She became published in 1991 and is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and also the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). She writes compositions for other independent artists, moonlights as a studio musician & back-up singer, and divides her time jamming, gigging and offering insight to several local groups. She frequents the open mics, especially the Abbey Pub in Chicago on Tuesday nights and plays regularly at Uncommon Ground in Chicago and several of the Potbelly's in the area.
Debe also lends her musical talents to some other bands such as Mark Zeus' Chicago Thunderboltz (www.markzeus.com).
Debe's studio buddies, affectionately referred to as the Drones, are featured on her CD "Crazy". That talent consists of Bobby "One-Take" Mielcarski on drums and backup vocals, Rob "Birdman" Matz on bass, Rich Matz on lead guitar, Jack Mazzenga on lead and rhythm guitars, mandolin & banjo. New members of the band are Peter Duggan on bass and Andreanna Moravec on viola. They will be featured on the new CD.
Debe's debut CD titled, "Not The Way I Planned" is a wonderful collection of acoustic pop-rock ballads. With smooth vocals, tight harmonies and haunting melodies, her songs will play through your head over and over. Debe's 2nd CD "Crazy" was released in June 2002. It's a vibrant and upbeat album with more rock tunes mixed in among her poignant ballads. An unplugged acoustic CD is in the works and a new studio CD is due out in the summer or fall of 2008.
